About

bullet Southern Adirondack Audubon Society is a local organization whose primary goal is to protect the environment by preserving natural habitats and promoting environmental education.  SAAS membership is drawn from  Warren, Washington, and Saratoga counties in New York State.

To advance our goal of "Conservation through Education," we sponsor monthly public programs on natural history topics, provide Audubon Adventures to homeschooling families in our chapter area, sponsor teens at environmental summer camps, and offer outreach progams to local organizations.

In addition, our chapter also:
  • Publishes "The Fledgling" , our chapter newsletter
  • Participates in the Annual Christmas Bird Count - CBC
  • Participates in Project FeederWatch
  • Conducts the annual Birdathon in May
  • Conducts bird monitoring surveys in the Fort Edward Grasslands Important Bird Area
  • Facilitates Legislative Interaction

  • SAAS has a library of birding books and field guides that can be borrowed by members.  See the  BookPage
